In my book this continues to be the best 2nd label Sauternes from the top 5 Sauternes estates. Absolutely dripping in caramellised fruit, sultanas, with a lovely nuttiness too. The density is wonderful while the all important acidity keeps it fresh and never cloying.
"This brilliant, vibrant, young, juicy Barsac is great value. So sip this luscious, waxy, beautifully balanced, white flowers, white pineapple and spicy, dried apricot fruit-stashed pudding wine slowly at the end of a big feast with a fresh clementine or two, or with a bold, creamy fruit pudding." Jane MacQuitty, The Times

Château Doisy-Védrines,the largest of the Doisy estates and a 2éme Cru Classé Barsac property. It has been owned by the long-established Castéja family since 1946 (who also own Batailley and Trotte Vieille). It remains relatively little known by most wine lovers, due mainly to tiny production levels. The wines are renowned for their relative intensity and richness compared to Doisy-Daëne next door, but they are nevertheless far from being a heavyweight by the standards of the appellation. Petit-Védrines is their second wine and represents exceptional value.
