Tasting Note

This Napa Cab really over-delivers for the money and is a brilliant illustration of the style. Sweet, generous and soft blackcurrant fruit with a plush, round mouth-feel. Not as muscular or as tannic as some of its counterparts but even more delicious. Beef is the perfect partner, here. (Gavin)

The Producer

Viano Vineyards

In 1920, the Viano family arrived in California from their native Piedmont and purchased a vineyard just outside the small town of Martinez, in what is now Contra Costa County AVA. Today, Viano is the only winery left in these parts, refusing to bow to the urbanisation that has consumed the entire Bay Area. Brothers John and David, the 4th generation of the family, like to use the most natural, cultural practices possible, combined with traditional winemaking techniques that include natural yeast and aging in small oak cooperage.
