Tasting Note

This Mercurey certainly over-delivers for the appellation. Lots of fruit density that is still very much at the brooding part of its life. The fruit is well-concentrated, fleshy and balanced. Red berries, black cherry dominate on the palate and there is a hint of leather too. It will keep getting better. (Gavin)

The Producer

Château de Chamirey

Amaury et Aurore Devillard represent the 5th generation to work at the Domaine. In 1934, their great-great-grandfather, Marquis de Jouennes, was the first to bottle the wines of Château de Chamirey. His son-in-law Bertrand Devillard was the one to extend the Domaine to the size it is now and he has laid strong foundations: the family has always taken pride in planting low yields so that although the quantity of grapes is smaller, the quality is fantastic.
