Domaine Sébastien Dampt
The Dampt family has been making wine in Chablis for over 150 years and have three domaines under different family names: Domaine Sébastien Dampt, Domaine Daniel Dampt and Domaine Vincent Dampt. After learning from his father Daniel and brother Vincent at Domaine Daniel Dampt (and with stints around the world including Chablis’ famous Domaine Laroche and a vintage in Australia), Sébastien created Domaine Sébastien Dampt in 2007 and has been winemaker there ever since. UK critic Tim Atkin has named Domaine Sébastien Dampt on his list of the ‘Top 25 best value producers’, so it is definitely one to watch!
The Domaine is situated in the village of Milly to the west of Chablis and fifty percent of the holdings are 1ers Crus in Beauroy, Fourchaume, Vaillon, Côte de Léchet and Les Lys. The grapes that go into this Chablis are from 5 hectares on several plots, the main one being a parcel of vines 45 years. There are several localities: Old Voye, Champlain Small Léchet, Bois de Milly and Fontenilles, which each contribute aspects that make this wine so well balanced and crafted.
