Château de Durette
Winemaker Marc Theissen, another native of Liège, joined the team in 2009 and has taken their winemaking from strength. Over the past few years since he has been there, Château de Durette's wines have won a host of awards and are continuing to try new viticulture and viniculture techniques.
Jean Joly from Liège (Wallonia) fell in love with the Beaujolais region when he took his young wife to Saint-Amour for their honeymoon in 1964 and was carried away by the area. In 2007 he returned and bought a vineyard in the village of Régnié-Durette, which he renamed Château de Durette. The originality of his plan is that in a sort of cooperative spirit, good friends acquired plots of vines of different Bordeaux vintages and signed tenant farming contracts with the Château de Durette, which thus has a vineyard covering 30 hectares. When Jean Joly passed away in 2014, the vineyard remained within the family and continues to adopt a reasoned agriculture approach.
