Cantina Tollo

With almost 13 million bottles sold, Cantina Tollo is one of Italy’s biggest winemakers. A farming cooperative founded in 1960, Cantina Tollo now has 840 members and 3,100 hectares of vineyards in the region. For more than 50 years, Cantina Tollo has placed the development of quality at the centre of its strategy, a winning approach that has led to major successes. They are also passionate about sustainability and use organic practices on 237 hectares of their vineyards.

Cantina Tollo is a co-operative with 840 members and 3,100 hectares of vineyards. Each member has an average of 3 hectares, a high per capita figure among Italian farming cooperatives and cooperative wineries. Cantina Tollo is incredibly committed to quality, and recently took the bold move to pay members by the hectare rather than by the quantity of grapes produced, promoting awareness of the importance of quality rather than quantity in the vineyard. The project radically changed the growers’ philosophy and resulted in an outstanding improvement in quality, making every single member a key piece in the puzzle that is the winemaking cooperative. They are also passionate about sustainability and use organic practices on 237 hectares of their vineyards.
