I decided to join the wine trade after spending a summer driving the tourist train around the cellars of Champagne Mercier and thought “this is the career for me”! I have since been working in the trade for 5 years having never looked back, and am now very excited to be part of the founding team at The Vintner where energy levels are high, and there’s lots to be excited about every day as we grow. I’m proud to be part of The Vintner and most importantly I love our wines, and I hope you will too.

Food and wine are my passion – 18 years working in restaurants, pubs & bars, a regular dinner party host and a childhood spent in France have dictated this. I have finally made the switch to focus fully on wine, and was delighted to be offered the chance to join a company in its infancy, especially one as vibrant and harmonious as The Vintner. My interest in wine began in earnest in 2005 during my gap year, after a couple of boozy days spent in the Hunter Valley with my old man and the late great Len Evans. Returning back to my beloved Cornwall, I was sent into the belly of our little family business in Padstow, learning to gut, scale, and generally cause a mess. A few years out front, working with an incredible wine list furthered my ambition to work much closer to the grape. This led me to the ‘bright lights’, and an introduction with Tom in April 2010. Since then I’ve been extremely proud to be part of this exciting venture with the passion to match. The grog isn’t too bad either!

Having cut my teeth with a couple of the smaller booze companies (Diageo and LVMH!) and spent some time sampling how they do things on the other side of the pond I was lured back by Tom for the best possible reason - to sell great wine, in the most exiting and exuberant city in the world. I absolutely believe we have got wonderful wines on our list, hand picked by the team and sold with complete belief in them. Go on, give them a try!

I started life in the trade as a wine maker but life in the lab, scrubbing the inside of tanks and tasting the same wine six times a day, 52 weeks of the year was not the future for me. I've since spent 13 years in the wine trade here in London and never have I have loved it more than I do now. It's all about the wine and the people for me and I've rediscovered the magic that drove me on to this crazy industry. I'm tasting many more wines, speaking to many more producers and putting smiles on our customers' faces again. It sounds relatively simple but it's exactly what makes me tick and long may it continue to do so.

I'm the guy in the smart Vintner Van driving at the right speed making sure you get your wine when and where you want it. I've been delivering in London for nearly ten years now and wine for five of those and I love this crazy job. Great wines in a great van to great people – makes me smile!

I've worked with Tom, Julia and Gregory for five years so I know the form. Drive safely, plenty of smiles and always with my smart Vintner uniform on. I'm the Vintner swan, all calm on top but pedalling hard to keep up with this crazy lot. Oh …. and the wines are great too!
