Following the madness of recent en primeur campaigns it’s a relief to be able to find parcels of mature Bordeaux that we can still afford to drink. 2008 is a great vintage to be buying and drinking now. Many of the wines are soft with classic Bordeaux rusticity but with ripe fruit to match. Cissac is sandwiched between St. Estephe and Pauillac and consistently produces good claret in a classic style and this ’08 has wonderful dark fruit, a healthy dollop of spice and terrific finesse. A delicious Bordeaux to be enjoyed over the next three years.
